Sporting a rather fetching Beckham...!
Considering it hasn't snowed for 2 weeks,
things are still going pretty well in Les Arcs. The Planet
Subzero housemates arrived last Saturday, so this week has
been a whirl of snow, beer, snow, beer and ummm ... more beer.
Everyone's
using the time to get to know each other (some more intimately
than others!), and the inevitable attack of the clippers has
hit the chalet, with Scott now sporting a rather fetching
Beckham (and a natives hoody).
We've only had one accident so far (Katie with a broken wrist).
Sadly she can't even brag about the near death experience
hurtling down that perilous couloir. She was standing still,
so busy laughing at someone else falling over that her board
just slipped from under her ...
Arc 1800 is heaving with the annual Navy Ski and Board Championships
(plus the Cambridge vets), so the Red Hot has been packed
every night, and Friday turned into a massive one with Blue
Funkt playing live to a very pissed up crowd.
The
pistes are all getting kind of patchy (rocks and ice everywhere),
although pretty much everything is still open and it's due
to start snowing demain. The Aiguille Rouge still has some
nice snow up top, and the runs around Vallandry are softening
up nicely from about 12. Off-piste is basically a no-go area,
although with perseverence, we did lay some first tracks yesterday
in pretty soft powder off the top of the Aiguille Rouge.
We just have to console ourselves with the
fact that the year it dumped and dumped and dumped, it didn't
start until mid January, right? It will come, it will.
