The
results are through of the Red Bull Snowthrill of Alaska 2002 People's
Choice. As previously covered on Natives
the competition was intense and the quality
astounding. Winning this award means winning the respect of the
worldwide ski community.
Thousands have voted on the Red Bull Snowthrill
of Alaska Site and so your voice has spoken. For the first time
in the history of skiing, the 2002 Red Bull Snowthrill of Alaska
introduced the photographic element into competitive freeskiing.
How was the competition structured?
Twelve of the best competitive freeskiers in the world (8 men and
4 women) invited the shooter of their choice. The teams were then
given a predetermined amount of heli time, and a mandate to create
the most mind-blowing ski photography ever seen. Without exception,
judged ski competitions create controversy. No matter who wins,
there is always someone who feels the judging was biased.
So
who won?
The winning picture voted by visitors to the site was taken by photographer
Dave Reddick of free skier Jamie Burge.
The winners will receive their awards at the
3rd annual Powder awards on January 28, 2003. The awards are being
held at the Joint (a venue within the Hard Rock Hotel & casino)
in Las Vegas, Nevada during the SIA trade show.
