Snow
It's snowed on and off for the last few days and the resort has
a good covering of snow with everyone biting at the leash to get
on the mountain. It's cetainly looking good for Courchevel 1850
opening this weekend (La Tania lifts open the following weekend
on the 14th December). More snow is forecast throughout the week
too!
Beer
A packed opening night (and 10th Birthday Party) in the Ski Lodge
last Sunday - new staff include 2 Geordies so the expected carnage
materialised. Overheard the next day - I spoke to so many people
last week who said, and I'll quote... "We're going to slow down
on the booze this winter and concentrate a little more on work and
skiing..." The first night the pub opens and all that prior thinking
is straight out the window! Oh, and one other thing - the pub is
no longer green, a light terracotta look for the next 10 years!
Bands
No news yet of Shibboleth's arrival yet - lead guitarist George
was seen performing a fantastic set with Abba tribute band Bjorn
Again (he's Bjorn) at the Birmingham Symphony Hall on Sunday. This
included a pseudo Scottish / Swedish accent and a blistering guitar
solo during that Abba classic "Living On A Prayer"? Meanwhile bassist
Colin (yeah that's right - Colin!) is getting married back in Scotland
this weekend - 6 La Tania locals are setting out on the first road
trip of the season to join in the celebrations.
Events
The annual locals photo session for the La Tania locals web site
takes place on Sunday 8 December in the Ski Lodge - more probing
questions and a mug shot on the locals page for all. Also, The Mountain
Centre in La Tania is holding a Welcome Party on Wednesday 12 December
- Kir & Canapes from 7pm to 9pm to welcome all workers old & new
to La Tania. Should be a good opportunity for everyone to get to
know each other and remember Saisonnaires get a discount for any
friends or family coming out to visit!
So roll on the lifts opening and hopefully
there'll be a complete ski report and mountain update next week!
