WHISTLER UPDATE

11 November 2002

It's pissing down with rain, you can't see the mountain for the clouds, and the town is full of Brits and
Aussies.

The mountain (Intrawest) has its job fair this week, which seems to be almost as chaotic as their housing system, and the Shoestring Lodge is booked up with people who can't get into staff housing yet.

Those that have managed to get into the Glacier site have been making friends with the resident bear and its two cubs, which Whistler locals affectionately call "Jeanie", although whether it would answer to that while it's beating you to death with your own leg is another matter.

Hiring decisions for intrawest will be announced on Monday and Tuesday, but most of the bars, shops and
restaurants are still accepting CV's as well, seems like there's enough work to go round if you can only
find a place to live.

So until work starts, there's not much else to do but go out and meet the millions, eat all the two-for-ones every night at the Dubb Linh Gate Pub, and drink yourself into oblivion in the village.

Life is sweet!
