The second Union Snowboarding Awards were held at the Marquee on Thursday
night and Natives was there in an atmosphere oozing with pre-season excitement.

Scratch and The Bees
This year's event had an awesome line-up with music courtesy of The Bees and Scratch, who started things off with an eclectic mix of funk/punk/chunk while the
crowd swarmed round the bar. The Bees followed and played a great set, the lead singer displaying his huge talent by switching between the trumpet/lead guitar/bass guitar and Hammond Organ. He even managed to squeeze in a recorder solo...surely stars of the future.

The hosts for the evening (Glam rockers Ed Leigh and Christian Stevenson) then took centre stage and got the awards going in style, handling the power cut during the 'Worst Slam' section by offering the crowd a barrage of amazing facts (Did you know that a butterfly tastes with its feet?). Well done lads.

The Winners
Clips were shown of the Uk's best boarders in action. Sick hits and sicker stacks were rewarded with the appropriate “ooohs and aaahs“ from the crowd.

Self-abuse Award
The crowd were offerred a chance to share the glory for the 'Biggest Caner' award. Six willing self-abusers took the stage and were whittled down to two via a pint / shot / cocktail / fag race. This left the two finalists going head-to-head in the 'Eat a kebab and then piss yourself in a bin bag' section. Although the kebab munching proved no problem, neither caner was willing to soil him/herself and left their public wanting more.

Scratch took the night on with some fine tunes, and by the end of the evening that pre-season excitement had built up to frenzy level. So close now....
