2002 REDBULL SNOWTHRILL ALASKA

5 November 2002

For the first time in the history of skiing, the 2002 Red Bull Snowthrill of Alaska introduced the photographic element into competitive freeskiing. The competition took place earlier this year and the gneral public can now vote for their favourite pictures. Check out this fantastic short film to experience the competition for yourself.

Freeskiers and Photographers team up
Twelve of the best freeskiers in the world, eight men and four women, invite a photographer of their choice. The teams are given a limited amount of helicopter time and a mandate to create the most mind-blowing ski photography ever seen.

World-class photographs
An international jury votes for Best Fly on the Wall, Best Powder Turn, Best Alaska Lifestyle, Best Air, Best Sequence and Best Feature Story. It is the first gathering of so many world-class freeski photographers and the result is some of the most breath-taking ski photography ever seen.

You can vote
The official voting season has begun. Now here's your chance to vote in the People's Choice Competition!

Without exception, judged ski competitions create controversy. No matter who wins, there is always someone who feels the judging was wrong. This is your chance to be heard. Winning the People's Choice Award means you have won the respect of the worldwide ski community, so it is only fitting that this award garners the largest cash prize at the 2002 Red Bull Snowthrill of Alaska. Let your voice be heard.

Starting on 12/8/02, check out the submissions and vote for the shot that inspires you, that lets you feel the wind in your hair and the snow on your face, or that simply speaks to the skier within you. Voting will remain open until 9/12/02.
