Well, it's over for another year but the 2002 Ski Show Workers Party
was a huge success, raising over £3000 for the British Adaptive
Ski Team. Thanks to everyone who came, all of whom contributed to
this fantastic figure.
Were
you dancing?
The venue, The Fox and West One Four, had just been renovated and
opened a couple of days before bigger and even better than before.
Downstairs in the Fox screenings of Season Wars and Snows in the
House entertained season workers while DJs Tenner, L'il Miss Jenna
and Adee, kept the tunes going all night.
Were
you moshing?
Upstairs the alpine band Superfly performed two superb sets to a
manic and moshing crowd, and even found a last minute replacement
when one of the guitarists cars broke down and he thought he wasn't
going to make it. Eventually he arrived, and the band continued
with their fabulous funky set with such classics as Grange Hill
and the A-Team.
Were you drinking?
D and his team at the Fox did a great job and everyone had a fantastic
night. Many thanks to Drambuie for a free shot for everyone, which
was especially welcome after queing in the rain.
Did you win the raffle?
All the prizes donated so generously by sponsors (holidays, backpacks,
videos, transport, shovels, clothing and more!) were to be won that
night in a raffle. The draw was made towards the end of the night
and the results posted on the exit door, but none of the prizes
were actually claimed! This may have been due to the large volume
of alcohol consumed that night but the story has a happy ending
- Simon from Brewskis had the brilliant idea of organising a charity
auction for them at the Ski Show the next day, Sunday.
Sunday Auction in Brewskis
Simon
did a fantastic job as auctioneer and raised another £1030
for The British Adaptive Ski team encouraging the crowd to bid for
the excellent prizes on offer. Thanks again to all of our sponsors
and everyone who helped to make the day such a success, in particular
David Clayton, who donated over £800 to secure the first (and
fourth) prizes.
The money will go towards new skis for our two paralympic athletes,
Russell Docker and Stephen Napier, and towards sponsorship for Liz
Miller, a newcomer to the team.
Thank you to everyone who helped or attended
Many thanks to everyone who made the whole event possible, and to
everybody who came - you have all contributed to the fantastic amount
raised. See you next year!
