The
Vans Triple Crown of Surfing kicks off once again with the Hawaiian
Pro, 12-23 November, but this year there's a twist that will showcase
some of the most outrageous freestyle surfing witnessed to date.
The Davidoff Cool Water Xpression Sessions is hitting the shores
of Haleiwa with a bonus prize purse of $10,000.
Freestyle
Mens Hawaiian Pro
The six-star
WQS Hawaiian Pro is to be held at Haleiwa's Ali'i Beach, North Shore
of Oahu, a break that features a fast ride peeling off over coral
reef, allowing a full spectrum of manoeuvres. As the season-ending
men's World Qualifying Series event, the Hawaiian Pro will determine
those who advance to the elite WCT for a shot at the world title
in 2003.
This is the first of a selection of the world's
premier surf and snowboard events that Davidoff Cool Water will
be supporting over the next year, where the brand will host the
freestyle disciplines.
Pros
battle it out for the big-air prize money
The Davidoff Cool Water Xpression Sessions is an invitational freestyle
event, where a selection of the world's best surfers will be attempting
to pull off the most radical and progressive manoeuvres to compete
for the prize purse.
Surfers will go head to head in heats and will be judged on best
barrel, most progressive manoeuvre and biggest air. Rarely seen
in normal contest heats, aerial 360s, snaps and floaters will be
the name of the game, so if its expression and innovation you're
after, look no further, as this is the most thrilling freestyle
surfing discipline of the event.
