Vancouver's Maelle Ricker picked up Canada's second gold medal at
the season-opening World Cup in Valle Nevado, Chile on Friday, winning
the women's halfpipe event.
US women claim silver and bronze
American Gretchen Bleiler came in second with 39.4 followed by 2002
Olympic champion Kelly Clark of the U.S. in third at 37.1.
Ricker's 41.1 points in her first of
two runs was good enough to seal the victory. It was her first win
on the World Cup circuit since December, 1999.
Canada top in the mens boardercross
As previously covered on Natives, Drew
Neilson of North Vancouver, B.C. won Canada's first gold medal,
capturing the snowboard cross, on Thursday.
