Next year's British Land Alpine Ski Championships (Tignes, Mar 16-22).will be the 25th that British Land Plc have been sponsors and to celebrate the occasion there will be a new event added:

British Land will add an open race for the public on the Championship race piste. Entrance will be free and the prizes big - with the added bonus that entrants will meet and ski with skiing stars from past & present.

"Battle of the Greats"

The public race will be a short giant slalom course where you will race against the clock. The fastest person will go forward to the "Battle of the Greats" which is a head to headrace between past British Champions and skiing celebrities.

The fastest public entrant will given the opportunity to race against one of the British Ski Team (name to pulled out of a hat) and win the suit off his/her back plus a substantial prize. The public winner will be given a 5 second head start.

There will be a free ski servicing facility for all entrants to the challenge where the world's top ski service men will make sure your skis are prepared to perfection. Safety Helmets will be supplied to all entrants for use in the race.
