Demand Action on Climate Change

This month world leaders are meeting at the Earth Summit in Johannesburg to discuss our planet's future.

A key outcome from the last Summit led to the signing of the Kyoto Protocol, the vital international agreement for action to stop global warming, but global environmental agreements are under threat from corporations and governments demanding free trade.

Friends of the Earth and many others will be in Johannesburg demanding that such environmental agreements be protected.

They will be calling on world leaders to respect the demands of their populations for real sustainable development, including a new commitment to tackle climate change: at least 10% of global energy from new renewable sources by 2010
