CARDONA UPDATE

25 July 2002

Outlook for a great weekend...and Vertical Hoon

Not a lot of new snow this week, picked up 4-5cm Sunday freshening things up. Good winter snow conditions over the entire mountain. The two quad chairs being higher have some great soft snow, lower on double has a few patches of hard pack which tend to show later in the day.

Currently 100% coverage with all main runs being groomed daily with an average packed base of between 40-80cm. After skiing most of the mountain yesterday snow is in good condition and feedback from visitors really positive and favourable about Cardrona snow.

Certainly this is very noticeable on the Beginner slopes where dry soft winter snow makes learning to ski and board a memorable experience. Add the three Magic Learner lifts and not surprisingly the Development Centre is pumping along right now.

Boarders are absolutely stoked on the pipes and park, so what's changed? Not much, two new rails in and a good mix of Intermediate and Advanced terrain features.

Looking ahead this weekend the most important affair is the weather and a great forecast. Today saw the end of a run of great weather. But back comes the sun tomorrow and the weekend should just get better.

Sunday the Volkl Vertical Hoon is an off-piste downhill with a difference - no course. Just top to bottom through Arcadia with $1000 up for first place. Also up next Tuesday is the first of four Base Ultra cross series for teams of 3 skiers and boarders. Supported by Natures Fresh this series has over $2000 in cash prizes and double that in product.

That's it for this week. Hope you all have a chance to get close to the snow over the next few weeks. Keep up to date with the web cam
