TOUR HITS THE ALPS

22 July 2002

It's a rest day today as the Tour de France psyches itself up for the two biggest days of this year's tour.

By Thursday, the field will have slimmed down as many riders drop out, and most likely, Lance Armstrong secures another unassailable lead. Check the action on Eurosport and ITV2 (how we miss Channel 4 coverage!).

Tuesday

After the challenge of Mt Ventoux yesterday, tomorrow (23 July) the Tour heads to Les Deux Alpes at 1650m.

Wednesday

After that comes the killer day of this year's Tour as the peloton makes it's way across the mountains, again and again and again! Deux Alpes to Valloire, takes in the Col de Lautaret (2058m), then it's via Valmorel and the Col de la Madelaine (2000m) to Moutiers, Aime and the final climb up to La Plagne (1880m).
