NZ UPDATE

12 June 2002

Well, as predicted, the weather packed a sad and with it came the snow.

It was particularly filthy on Saturday and then through Tuesday and Wed which resulted in some pretty meaty snowfalls in the Suoth Island. Canterbury got nailed, Methven, Ash Vegas and surrounds were under a pretty serious 40cm of snow and it's freezing again today. There's also a fair number of roads still closed.

What it means is that Hutt got a good drop and looks fantastic today.

Further south snow fell right through Tekapo, Fairlie etc so there's some opening day projections moving forward.

Treble Cone is shooting for Sat as is Remarks, Cardrona etc which sets it up for a real early season.

Up North Whakapapa has put off the Sat opening because it seems to have rained more than snowed. Boooo!!! Turoa will open but only with the top lifts -a shame as they had 1M+ before this.

So there we go - it's all on !
