NEW SNOW PARK FOR NZ

25 February 2002

New Zealand's first all-mountain terrain park, Snow Park, which opens near Wanaka in June, has spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on specialist equipment.

A Zaugg Pipe Monster had been bought for $160,000 with the largest transition of any shaper in the country. Also about to be shipped from Italy is a Limited Edition Pinroth Everest - the world's most powerful groomer - costing $600,000. Eight automatic snow guns costing a total of $800,000 have also been bought.

Early-bird prices for season passes to the Snow Park have also been released. The inaugural season's pass (until March 31) is $349 for adults. In season's prices are adult $799, tertiary students $599, high school students $399 and children $199.

Late last year the Snow Park announced that it would be opening its activities on the Waiorau Snow Farm, close to the nordic ski area. Included in this area will be three pipes, one being a 5.5 metre half pipe, several table jumps, a moguls course and boardercross course.
