ALCOTT CONTINUES ON LEARNING CURVE

19 February 2002

Chemmy AloottChemmy Alcott (19, Hove) yesterday (17/2/02) competed in her third event of the Games finishing a creditable 28th in the Women¹s Super G event, her weakest discipline, by her own admission.

Competing in her first Games and at just nineteen years of age, the 2002 Olympic experience is a steep learning curve for Chemmy.

³I was very pleased with my performance on the top half of the course,² said Alcott,² A number of girls failed to finish the course and it is tough starting when the two previous competitors have abandoned. I¹m gaining in experience with every event and am generally happy with today¹s performance. I am looking forward to the technical events next week.²

The surprise race winner was Daniela Ceccarelli with the seemingly irrepressible Kostelic in second.
