POSITIVE START FOR CARRICK-ANDERSON

1 December 2001

Britain¹s number 1 women¹s slalom skier Emma Carrick-Anderson made a promising start to her Olympic season this week in Finland.

Carrick-Anderson placed 9th on Thursday and 12th on Friday amid a quality World Cup field. She was delighted with these performances: "I feel really positive about this start. Before the race, I was concerned that this very steep slope would not suit my style, so I am delighted with this performance."

Britain¹s number 2, Chemmy Alcott failed to complete the course on Thursday and achieved 31st place in yesterday¹s race. This was Chemmy¹s first competitive outing since her double victory in Cardrona, New Zealand in September.
