After scouring the land for talent over the last seven months and sitting through endless hours of 'absolute crap', Gigz recently updated us on the five acts that are going to be rockin' venues in Meribel, Courchevel, La Tania, Val d'Isere and Chamonix this season: "The Noize"; are an energetic, funky
Edinburgh based band playing mainly in Mark Warner venues
(Le Pub Meribel, Le Rond Point - Meribel, The Moris - Val
d'isere) as well as the Ski Lodge in La Tania and The Red
Hot Saloon in Les Arcs. Watch out for Ed on Bass, Jack on
Keyboards, William Ivitsky on drums and our man with the tan,
Christian on vocals and "Cheap Skate", as Alan Partridge might put it, "will rock the shit out of ya". This seriously tight Brighton based 4 piece have a great upbeat dance/disco set that's goin' to go off. The line up features Neil on vocals/guitar, Wes on bass, Langer Dan Moore on keys, and Ross on drums. Check them out at Le Pub Meribel, Le Rond Point, The Moris, The Hotel La Verseaux in Brides Les Bains and the Red Hot Saloon. And laydeez, yes, they're all gorgeous... "Soma Central" This Swindon based 5 piece outfit are fantastic. The vocalist, Chantelle, has an incredible voice which with their fat sound and great dance set makes them unmissable. First gig in Dicks in Meribel on Jan 3. Featuring: Douglas Jones on drums, Nathaniel Yelverton on guitar, Alex Yeoman on bass, Laurie French on percussion/ vocals and Chantelle Pike on guitar and vocals. They'll be playing for the season at Dicks in Val d'isere, Chamonix and Meribel, La Tsaretta in Les Allues, Le Pub Meribel, and El Ponchos in Meribel. "Strum" are seriously good duo with a huge repertoire of up beat and chilled out tunes. Featuring on acoustic/electric guitar, bass and vocals Darren Gallagher (a sound Dublin man) and Dan Tagg. The lads are playing mainly in The Tavern Meribel, Pizza Express Meribel, Restaurant La Tavern Meribel, Le Castors and also in El Ponchos.
And for those devastated with the news that "Superfly" are not coming out this season....don't despair. Gigz have persuaded the boys out of semi retirement to play for two weeks only (20 Dec - 2 Jan). Keep your eyes peeled on Natives for their dates and venues!
