weekend's BUDS (British Universities Dry Slope Champs) broke
a bunch of records...
1. The biggest ever dry slope event in the
UK (400+ competitors)
2. A new snowboard speed record for a dry slope was set
3. Longest hangover after a party (some were still suffering
on Wednesday)
The snowboarding record was set by Elliot
Green from Napier University. At around 60kmh it's not so
not fast compared to snow, but the smell of burning p-tex
apparently lingered in the air and Scottish TV got a couple
of seconds coverage to fill a gap in the news.
In the racing, the Scottish universities again
dominated on home ground, winning 14 of the 18 categories.
Bristol and Sheffield were the only southern unis to take
home titles.
At the AGM, a combined bid from Edinburgh
and Heriot Watt Universities won unanimously to run BUSC for
2003. The winning committee celebrated in style and also let
