CHRISTIE'S FUNDRAISING AUCTION

6 November 2001

After this year's successful event, a group of Britain's former ski racers have organised a second fund raising auction with the support of The British Ski & Snowboard Federation.

The Champagne Reception and Private Auction will be held at Christie's in South Kensington on 29 January 2002 from 1830. Please contact Frances Burridge for tickets.

Christie's are not only supplying their fabulous facility and expert staff free of charge to support Britain's Alpine athletes, but guests will also have the opportunity to meet members of the British Team and preview Christie's famous Ski Poster auction. This event has the backing of the Britsh Olympic Association and her Royal Highness Princess Anne.

Last year's fund raiser attracted 750 guests along with various celebrities and the national media and raised £35,000 for the team. This level of support has helped considerably and Alain Baxter is now ranked in the World's Top 10 slalom skiers, as well as claiming 4th place in the World Cup finals earlier this year.

The 2002 Christie's Fund Raiser will be able to take 450 guests, paying £30 per person. A member of the Royal Family, if commitments allow will attend as well as selected guests from the Ski Club of Great Britain, the British Ski Federation, the British Olympic Association, the Christie's private client list, readers of Fall Line Skiing magazine, clients of Momentum Travel and visitors to Natives.co.uk.

Invitations will be sent out at the beginning of December, carrying details of the auction lots with their company logos.

Press and TV coverage will include the BBC, Eurosport, Hello Magazine and Harpers & Queen. The media will be keen to see Alain Baxter and his team-mates, who will attend the event prior to flying to Utah to represent Britain at the Olympics, as well as the numerous celebrities likely to attend. Last year attracted well-known figures like Britt Eckland, Billy Zane & Christopher Lee.
