Scope, the national disability organisation with a focus on people with cerebral palsy, is planning a repeat of last year's very successful White Peaks Challenge. The charity (formerly the Spastics Society) will also be running its 4th White Peaks Ski Challenge from 1-4 March 2001. This hugely popular event is one of the toughest around. Participants will ski 24 peaks in under 48 hours, over 130kms (82 miles) of top class piste in the heart of Austria. It's the equivalent of skiing down Everest twice and reportedly leaves those taking the challenge completely exhausted, but totally elated. Entrants last year included TV celebrity Angus Deayton. 'I've skied as fast and I've skied long - but i've never skied as fast for so long and enjoyed it so much. If you're up for a challenge, I urge you to call now and enter this fantastic event.' One person who has signed up is CdS member, Simon Rumbles. You can sponsor him by mailing him at srumbles@hotmail.com. Places are limited, so if you are a competent intermediate looking to challenge yourself. All entrants are required to raise £1,200 for children and adults with cerebral palsy. In return all flights, skis, accommodation and guides will be provided. For more information contact Scope on 0207 619 7100, email or visit their website
