BIG BANG - NY SUSHI AT SHEFFIELD SKI VILLAGE

7 August 2001

The Big Bang 6 had a much more chilled out atmosphere than the previous manic BB5.

Rich Gardiner reports:

'It's official, Mother Nature loves drum and bass and sliding sports. The skies cleared after what can only be described as Sheffield's Monsoon season had been doing it's best all day!

The turn out was surprisingly good considering the evil weather earlier in the day. The Ski Village was divided into four main arenas:

The Galaxy 105 dance arena in the indoors bar, the hip hop and drum and bass arenas were in huge marquees at the foot of the slopes.

There was something for everyone really here, from gut trembling D&B through to funky house, picking up your Breaks and Beats along the way. Sadly the break dancers from BB5 had not made the return journey.

The NYSushi boys never fail to deliver and the nights line up included big names such as Cut La Roc, Adam F and Goldie!

In the Fun Park a selection of top UK riders were keeping everyone entertained, some resorting to pink Deelyboppers (!) and velvet jackets.

There was a great atmosphere up on the slope with riders pushing each other to try new stuff. Mike Wakefield (Salomon UK) was crazy as ever, and ski village regular Rob was looking good for the camera!

The display riders kept going until around midnight until things degenerated to naked waterjumping off the aerial ramps!

If you've not been to one of the Ski Village's Big Bang nights yet it's well worth a look. A top night of great music, boarding and skiing, and some strange burgers that seem to smell better as the night goes on!'
