ARTIST LINE UP

Arena 1: Knowledge Magazine Arena (Drum & Bass)

Goldie (Metalheadz)

The drum & bass phenomena that is Goldie returns to NY SUSHI for his second stint following his blow up appearance at the SUSHI Sessions. B Boy, graffiti artist and Metalheadz figurehead is sure to bring his unique sound that defined him as the champion of drum & bass. Today, there are few more influential and charismatic figures on the scene than Goldie. Long live the King.

Fabio (Metalheadz, Radio 1).

One of the true originators, Fabio has stuck to his guns from day one by playing nothing but cutting edge, no nonsense music. Alongside Grooverider, his ‘One in the Jungle’ radio show on Radio 1, has established itself as a solid and steadfast part of the scene. Fabio’s insight into what makes a blistering dance track has made him a leader, whilst others choose to follow.

Adam F (Virus, Redman).

The highly talented and hard working Adam F has deservedly risen from the ranks since his early days recording for seminal London-based jungle label Lucky Spin and Section 5 Records. Recently Adam has spent time in the states producing a collection prominent hip hop artists. But it is with drum & bass that Adam built much of his reputation on, through his superlative DJ sets, recordings and live performances.

Bad Company (Bad Company Recordings)

Arguably the biggest recording artists on the scene at the moment; Bad Company not only broke into the scene but gave it a much needed kick up the arse. Their two albums to date, Inside the Machine and Digital Nation received universal rave reviews. They continue to break boundaries and blow speakers, Big Bang 6 will be no exception. Whilst the Bad Company bandwagon has rolled on without mercy across Europe spreading drum & bass gospel through their mighty DJ sets.

Matrix (Virus).

A truly talented artist who can turn his hand to just about anything, whether it is streetwise hip hop to the sound of rollin’ drums. Spent much of the time living in his brother’s shadow (Optical, of Ed Rush and Optical fame), Matrix finally broke through with his excellent Sleepwalk long player and it gives us great pleasure to bring this talent to Big Bang 6.

TK, Stav, TC One, (NY SUSHI DJ Display Team).

Much of NY SUSHI’s success has been forged on their home grown talent. And TK, Stav and TC One have nurtured and built up their very own strong following, who share their inexhaustible passion for drum & bass.

MC E-LL, MC Power.

NY SUSHI’s two MC’s are veterans of the scene who go from strength to strength.

Arena 2: Tuesday Club Arena: (Hip hop, breaks & beats)

‘First Light Tour’ presents:

Cutmaster Swift and DJ Pogo (Enforcers – Ex DMC World Champions)

Together on four decks. Two of London’s most original and respected ‘old school’ DJ’s, who have for well over a decade been in the world's group of elite turntablists, make their debut at NY SUSHI. Their technical ability is only surpassed by their immense collection of classics.

Cut La Roc (Skint Records).

One of Skint Records leading lights, Cut La Roc’s sets are as diverse as his releases. His sets encapsulate the energy of big beat, the roughness of hip hop and attitude of acid house. Capable of rocking an old people’s home.

Russ Rockwell (Zulu Nation).

Representing the Bronx via Brighton. Russ is a fully-fledged member of the Zulu Nation, their membership is something you earn rather than buy, and is sure to bring with him that block party spirit to the slopes of Sheffield.

Ian Taylor (First Light Resident).

Maley, Steve Levin, Geoff Ticehurst (The Tuesday Club)

Three of the finest residents around on the scene at the moment. All representing The Tuesday Club which has long established itself in Sheffield folklore by bringing some of the most respected DJ’s to the area to complement their blossoming home-grown talent.

Arena 3: Scuba

Chris Duckenfield (Swag, RAC)

Undoubtedly one of the UK’s leading lights in quality house and electronic music. A much-respected producer under various guises, Chris manages to make the sort of music that lasts the test of time. As a DJ, he has been a major force and you’d be hard pushed to find anyone who is capable of matching his technical abilities on the trusty ‘ones and twos’.

DJ Cosmo TBC (Body & Soul NYC)

Straight outta New York City to the land of NY SUSHI. DJ Cosmo has a long history entrenched in music, encapsulating everything from electro to beautiful, soulful house music. A graduate of the infamous Loft in New York, Cosmic picked up and carried on the club’s open-minded approach to music with her freeform turntable journeys. Her resume reads like a who’s who of cool, with appearances at New York’s Body & Soul alongside Francois K, to name but a few.

Winston Hazel (Moloko Sound System)

Sheffield’s most respected DJ heads for the hills, no doubt bringing with him a fine crate of tunes for the NY SUSHI massive. A veteran of the scene, Winston has played the length and breadth of the country supporting Moloko. Not only that he has recorded under several guises, most notably on the Warp imprint as part of the Forgemasters. Like fellow NY SUSHI guest Goldie, Winston broke through with the fledgling 80s hip hop scene, and has never looked back.

Mark Jones (The Store, Switch)

Since making the long haul up the M1 from south of Watford, Mark Jones has established himself as a cornerstone of the northern music scene. A regular DJ on the northern circuit, his enthusiasm lasts 24 hours a day with his daytimes spent running his own successful Sheffield-based record shop - The Store.

Neil Bently (Galaxy 105)

Galaxy Radio’s Neil makes his second appearance at the Big Bang bringing funky house music to the melting pot.

Arena 4: The Sprite Freestyle Arena

The Big Bang events are not just about music, as Europe’s largest dry ski slope plays host to the very best of UK’s riders, with boarders, bladers and skiers pushing themselves to the very limit of their abilities. The freestyle display kicks off at 8pm till 12am, with all the action taking place on the 2 big air jumps, the 65-metre half-pipe, grand rail and the ever-popular water jump. Big Bang 5 saw all kinds of crazy stunts going on and we can promise more of the same only crazier for Big Bang 6.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Arena 5: Big Bang 6 After Party

2am till 6am

Big bang goes on throughout the night with Radio One’s ‘One in the Jungle’ DJ Fabio at the helm. Alongside the man will be a bevy of excellent supporting roles with TK, Stav, TC One, MC E-LL and MC Power. The last after party for Big Bang 5 was rammed to the rafters, with no one wanting to go home. With Fabio steering the NY SUSHI ship into the sunrise it’s highly likely that a full house is again on the cards. As usual the NY SUSHI buses will be on hand to ferry the masses to the after party, Bo!
