TENSION MOUNTS FOR BRITS

21 March 2001

The 2001 British Snowboard Championships kick off in Mayrhofen from the 28th March, marking the 11th anniversary of the event.

This year sees a big change in the format of the competition which also sees a new look festival ‘Music on the Mountain’ integrated into the event schedule.

With music journalist and club promoter, Kirk Field responsible for music programming the line up is guaranteed to rock the mountain – French band, Shaggy Dog Story and Perrier Award finalists, the Cuban Brothers are amongst those already confirmed.

The week-long event will embrace great boarding, themed bars, clubbing, street festival and a massive finale party with live music. The resort itself has committed extensive resources to developing and improving facilities such as the extended fun park and the new Horberg Bahn gondala system which will cut out the queues and hassle of getting up to the action and help ensure that Championship-goers are kept happy both on and off the mountain.

All the best manufacturers and distributors will be there, with test centres letting you test out next seasons kit, plus there are cash prizes up for grabs in the skating competition.

With so many competitors this year, each event will take place over two days, with qualifying followed by a final.
