The
word coming in from France is that Superfly are the
best band to hit the Alps in 7 years…
And that's no insult to the great bands of the past and present
- Contraband (Val d'Isere), The Hoax (Chamonix), Shibboleth
and Blue Funkt (all over), Super
U (Meribel and now Chamonix) et al - but the feedback
on these lads is that they really are 'super fly'.
Natch, we've snapped them up to headline at the TMC/Natives
Workers Challenge on 7 March.
Reports
regularly point to an energy and vitality running through
their set, which manages to juggle Ah Ha with Wilson Picket
and their James Brown (a sure benchmark for any band) is apparently
the best you'll ever see.
Variety is the theme - each member takes turns at singing;
they often swap instruments; and the sets are never the same.
Recently at Les Castors in Meribel they even started
'free jamming' along with DJ Jim from Dicks (the pics here
are from this night).
You can see Superfly for yourself at
in Meribel at the Rond Point or Les Castors for After
Ski and Dicks Tea Bar or Le Pub in the evening. In Courchevel,
they play the Kalico and the Verseau in fashionable but aloof
Brides les Bains (irony intended), while their
home patch is Pub Le Ski Lodge in La Tania.
Anyone in Val d'Isere can check
out their debut gig at Dick's Tea Bar on Wednesday 7 Feb for
After Ski and laters (11pm start). Miss this one at your peril!
Superfly are Dan Sells, Kevin Jeremiah, Andrew Mckinney and
Paul Stewart.
