Alain Baxter put in a stunning performance at Madonna di
Campiglio on Tuesday to record the best British result in
any World Cup race since 1987.
Baxter's 8th place in the Slalom,
came from a charge in the second run that lifted him from
the 21st position he held at that point.
After a 21st position at Park City
and 13th at Sestriere, Alain is now looking at at top 30
world ranking when the next list is produced. And
Baxter remains bullish about his future prospects: 'The
great thing is that even now I have not skied two really
good runs on the same day. The day I do, I know I can beat
any of these guys.'
His 8th place is the best by any Briton
in a World Cup Slalom race and is the best in any discipline
for 13 years since Martin Bell came sixth in the Val d'Isere
downhill.
