FIRST TRACKS ON MOUNT EVEREST

13 October 2000

Slovenian ski instructor Davo Karnicar, 38, became the first person to ski nonstop down the steep slopes of Mount Everest, the world's highest mountain.

After four days of climbing the 8850m mountain, he spent just five hours dropping over 3000 vertical metres to base camp at 5540m - without taking off his skis and with only minimal breaks.

If you've ever been to the Aiguille de Midi in Chamonix or the American Rockies and had your breath taken away by the altitude, bear in mind that by the time Davo finished, he was still almost 2kms nearer to God than you!

It is definitely worth visiting his website, where you can find out more about this incredible descent plus view the video footage shot from the camera he had strapped to his head!

Like, yeh man...I ski this sort of stuff the whole time
