LONDON SKI SHOW SNIPPETS

9 October 2000

Thanks to everyone who came to see us at the Ski Show over the weekend (see the pics) - it was great to find out so many of you had saved money by using our '2 for 1' ticket offer or through the competition tickets. Watch out for more ticket offers coming soon!

Whether you made it or not, here's a few news snippets we picked up...

Overseas News

Saisonniers can look forward to a new bar in Morzine, likely to be known as the Caverne or the Taverne. The bar will be right in the centre of town, run by CdS member Phil 'Marsellus' Wallis.

In Courchevel's Le Praz it looks like the Bang Bang bar could be resurrected as part of the burgeoning underground club scene. Meanwhile it is also rumoured that 10ff Mutzigs could be back on the Sunday night Darbeilo menu - welcome news to hard-working reps wanting to forget transfer day!

Over in La Tania there's new snowguns which should extend the snowcover and a new backpackers (more news coming soon to Natives) will be a god-send to the budget conscious.

One La Tania regular has moved on however, and will be opening a new bar in Tignes Lavachet. The new bar will apparently be known as TCs (the website will be going live soon!). Other bar news sees the Wobbly Rabbit taken over by French owners and a new bar called Fishtank, run by CdS member Jeremy Coates, opening in the centre of Val Claret.

In Meribel, there are rumours that a large lager company is lining up the Blind Date of the season, taking 300 budding Romeo's for a week of Valentine's dating. You can get away from it all at the Tsaretta in Les Allues which this season will be under the British ownership by Ski Blanc. There is still no bar in Le Village though - the £1m price tag set by the local mafia...sorry, owners...is proving too much.

Online News

The next few weeks will see a plethora of new sites going live: Complete Skier's rebranded site, ifyouski, will be followed shortly their new Dive and Golf sites. The Ski Club of Great Britain site is going through a redesign and new player, Online Travellers launches officially in a couple of weeks.
