The latest issue of the Good Ski Guide takes
on the thorny issue of which resort is the most
'macho'.
Setting aside
questions about the selection of resorts (no
Chamonix...shurely shome mishtake?) and the
relevance of the number of 'Beginner Runs Available'
(surely these should have counted as a negative?),
the survey threw up some interesting results.

Verbier was crowned
most macho resort, just ahead of Val d'Isere, St Anton
and Whistler. The resort out-scored the others overall
across ten categories, without winning any of the
interesting ones.
St Anton was deemed
resort with the highest likelihood of a hangover (Jaegermeister,
no?) and Verbs and Val were equal as the most stylish.
Controversially, Val came out on top (no pun intended)
in the 'Chance of Romance' category. Apparently there's
a 'free love climate' out there, but 'by Christmas
most snow babes will have been snapped up by grungy
looking Scandinavians'. Or not.
