Scope,
the national disability organisation with a focus
on people with cerebral palsy, has announced plans
for two ski challenges in 2001.
The charity (formerly
the Spastics Society) is adding one new event for
determined skiers next season. The Three Nations
Ski Marathon takes place from 1-4 March 2001.
This takes participants on a non-stop, action-packed
weekend through Italy, France and Switzerland. Skiing
200kms (125 miles) in just two days, Scope will take
participants to their limits on this international
marathon of ski challenges.
For the third year,
Scope will also be running its White Peaks Ski
Challenge from 9-12 March 2001. This hugely popular
event is one of the toughest around. Participants
will ski 24 peaks in under 48 hours, over 130kms (82
miles) of top class piste in the heart of Austria.
It's the equivalent of skiing down Everest twice and
reportedly leaves those taking the challenge completely
exhausted, but totally elated.
Places on both
events are limited, so any competent intermediates
looking for a challenge and wanting to help should
make plans now. All entrants are required to raise
£1200 for children and adults with cerebral palsy.
In return all flights, skis, accommodation and guides
will be provided.
