If there was any doubt about
the great start to the season in New Zealand, this
great picture from Treble Cone dispels it.
Although the weather has been
warmer in the last week, the snow has held up exceptionally
well and cold temperatures on the 2nd, meant that
snowmaking could add to the fresh dusting of snow
received the same night.
Snow cover is excellent for
this stage of the season with a base of around 30cms
at base, 85 cms at the top of the 6-man chair and
1.2 metres in Saddle Basin.
The resort now claims that Wanaka
has the best snow cover in New Zealand. Looking at
the picture below it seems hard to doubt it. With
work on the new terrain park starting this week, the
resort seems to be going from strength to strength..
