Natives exists because we do.  If you've got this far into the site, Natives has probably struck a chord with you.  It's here if you've ever watched the moon or the sun rise over the mountains, if you've just sat and watched fat snowflakes settle on your windowsill.

Mountains...You've probably made mindless small talk with hundreds of people you'll never see again, yet made friends that you'll keep for a lifetime.

You stayed in to catch the first lift and went out far too late (but got away with it).

You answered the questions, dealt with the crap days and loved the great ones.  You worked out what you did in the summer and you came home and your friends said, "What was it like?"

And what is it like?  Only natives of the mountains know...

History:

Natives was founded by Iain Martin, who was fed up with season workers being misrepresented in so-called 'documentaries' on TV.

NativesThe site launched in April 1999 from Iain's living room. In May 2001, we moved to our first office in Putney, London. We have moved office since then, but still are located in this great spot in SW London.

Our traffic has continued to increase across the years. In January 2007, the site recorded 12.2m hits and 853,395 page impressions from 388,076 unique sessions.

Resort JobsIn March 2003, we launched ResortJobs.co.uk to further broaden the distribution of the Natives Jobs Network. In July 2003, SkiJobs.co.uk was also added.

Jobs BookIn 2003, we published our first book 'The Natives Guide to Working in Ski Resorts', followed up in 2005 with 'The Natives Chalet Cook Book'. Our free twice-yearly magazine, Tribe, was first published in 2006.

In 2006, Natives joined the Friday Media Group. This new partnership has enabled us to reap the benefits of being part of a larger group.

Natives is run by a small team of ex-season workers, most of whom work on a part-time basis. Members of the current team include Zack Wragg, Jim Duncombe, Simon Clark, Ben Simpson, plus our team of resort reporters.
