Qualifying as a snowboard instructor is a long process and there are lots of stages involved to pass. Each country has its own system of qualifications, and it's necessary to pass all the levels before you'll be able to set up a school on your own, or teach in France, for example.
BASI (British Association of Snowsport Instructors) is the system of qualifications in the UK. A popular way to start is by taking a gap year course, which is typically 10 weeks of instruction in the Alps in the winter or further afield in the Southern Hemisphere's winter, leading to the first level of qualification, the BASI Level 1.
