Ski and Yoga This Winter in France

By Adventur_Yogi, 5 Sep at 10:51

As every regular skier knows, we use muscles on the slopes in ways that aren’t used that way during the rest of the year, which brings stiffness and tension to the whole body, making it harder to enjoy our skiing experience at most. That’s why Adventure Yogi has developed a dedicated winter retreat combining skiing and yoga - the two extremes that complement each other perfectly.

The dedicated daily yoga practice during the retreat helps gain more balance, concentration, flexibility and strength on ski slopes leaving the body strong and supple.

Certain yoga postures can benefit skiers and help greatly reduce the physical demands put on the body by the active sport. Yoga helps stretch out the muscles that skiing strengthens yet at the same time shortens. Apart from making the skiing experience much more pleasurable, yoga can help reduce physical injury, especially if the yoga practice is specifically designed for skiing.

For example, yoga asanas for strengthening thighs include a forward bend and a high lunge; a great asana for releasing the hips is a forward kneeling lunge, whilst spinal twists and a downward dog postures help maximise the core strength.

Join AdventureYogi’s invigorating week of Snowsports and Yoga during March 2018 located in the stunning town of St Foy, France.

Start each day with a warm up power yoga session followed by an energising breakfast and a whole day on the slopes. Evenings are dedicated to winding down in the sauna, experiencing holistic treatments and gentle yoga to unwind and soothe tired muscles. To top it all off enjoy a 3 course vegetarian dinner with local wines. Stay in private apartments with spectacular views across the Tarantaise valley to the Aiguille Rouge and Mont Pourri mountains, right at the foot of the pistes.
