A number of factors have contributed to the rise in numbers, including good weather and favourable snow conditions. The statistics suggest, unsurprisingly, that the majority of visitors from outside of New Zealand arrived from Australia. The Chief Executive of Tourism New Zealand, Kevin Bowler, believes the figures suggest there is plenty of room for optimism in the New Zealand ski industry. Positive outlook While markets in the Northern Hemisphere continue to struggle, the signs for Australasian resorts seem far more encouraging. |

Hmmm, last time I looked at a map Scotland was in the Northern Hemisphere and the 09/10 season there was massive - the only "struggle" was getting through all the snow!Posted by: roga | 29 Jul 2010 15:00

...i'll have a word with our editor!
scotland had a great year and we are featuring it in tribe magazine, but to be fair volume is low compared to europe/usa, and that market has fallen significantly.Posted by: iainm | 29 Jul 2010 15:03
- 3. fair point 2 :D
Yeah a fair point, you're quite right the overall fall is significant and cancels out the small 'blip' that was the 09/10 season in Scotland. It's at least a positive in amongst the gloom though and here's to a repeat there next season (and a better one elsewhere ... or everyone will want to be in Scotland ;).
Good to hear Tribe is featuring Scotland and hopefully it'll be a nice positive feature - there's a good scene up there :DPosted by: roga | 29 Jul 2010 15:30
