Do any of the other mp3 players have the ability to connect to the radio of a hifi to give good sound?

What I meant is for the syncing off multiple computers. Surely this allows you to get a bigger music collection much easier. Especially since other peoples computers may not have all the software required to trick the ipod into not deleting what is already there. So getting a non-apple one would make your life much easier

Yeah that one!

I'm guessing it would be incompatible with other mp3 players

you can buy all sorts of different ones (cheaper than the itrip) that work with all mp3 players. there are ones that run off batteries, ones that use car cigarette lighters for power etc etc

itrip is again overpriced and often doesn't work too well - you can't change frequencies on the move so a strong radio signal (actually, even a local pirate station) can totally obliterate it.

also for connecting to hifi ipod doesn't have a line out. Iriver (the model i've got at least) does. not sure about the creative.

Um, yes you can. You can re-tune it any time you want, it only takes 5 seconds.

Also, £32 for an iTrip plus car charger doesn't seem too expensive to me.

my mate's got one, you have to use a computer to change the frequency. not gonna happen on a long car journey for example.

and when there are others costing £15, i'd say £32 is expensive

iTrips are illegal anyway; given your stance on everyone being grown up and playing to the letter of their contracts during seasons foxy I'm surprised you're supporting this product. ;)

Your mate is an idiot then!
It's in the instructions on how to do it. Once you've installed it on your iPod, you don't need a computer to change the station.

£15 for a decent quality FM transmitter and charger?

Seems a rip off to me, I built an fm transmitter with an old electronics kit - if you're a manufacturing company I doubt it's that hard to put it in a white bit of plastic and add a headphone jack, probably for less than 7p in south china somewhere.

Yup, I've built them before as well.
Then again, running shoes only cost about 5p to make, yet some people pay £50+ just to have a pair.

Not only iTrips, but ANY unlicenced FM transmitter which broadcasts in the standard analogue bands is illegal. (It's due to the Wireless Telegraphy act of 1949)

You have the option to tune it to over 200 stations, and you can retune at any time!
