I bet you've experimented with some fruity software, just to find out how it made you feel! :P

I can honestly say I have NEVER plugged an input cable into an output socket. It's not natural. My computer outputs are just that - output only.

Hatters, Izzlers et Al.

Cheers for all the advice.

Hatters; wouldn’t it just be simpler to record to a Minidisc and then download the recording through the audio in? The loss of audio quality would be next to bugger all and still better than your average MP3.

Izzlers has sent me some stuff yesterday (Ta V Much), that I will play with later today.

True. But that requires you to have a real time audio recording device.

In the old days I would have suggested using a tape deck to record off the radio.

Hatters,

That I do have, how else would I 'Bootleg' my gigs otherwise?

The problem I have is that 'Real Player' won't send a streamed signal to it.

Do you posess a "radio"?

You could take a signal out of the radio and put it into the minidisc, or alternatively, plug the minidisc recorder into your computer headphone socket, and don't tell real player that it's a minidisc recorder.

Hatters,

I do in fact own a 'wireless' but what good would that do me at the moment as the current series of ISIHAC is not on the world service?

Isn't that what I said in my previous post? And why would I need or indeed not, to tell Real Player about a Minidisc as the mic input is just an analogue audio input?

OK, let's try a simpler question:
Can you plug headphones into your computer and hear what real player is streaming?

Erm, what is all this fucking about for?

I've sent him a specialised application that hijacks any RM stream and records it to the hard disk.

All he has to do is open the program, click the link on a website, and wait a few minutes whilst it saves it.

Sheesh.

Hatters,

Of course I can! So recording onto a Minidisc and then downloading the audio to my hard disc via the 'Mic' input would be easy.

However, I don't want to do this because;

a) It involves a lot of buggering about with cables, MD players and lugging about more gear.

b) It takes at least twice as long as the recording to get it on my hard disc.

I have yet to play about with the bundle of soft wear Izzlers sent me but if it works I will be a happy Boggart.

So you were lying earlier when you said you couldn't get a stream from Real Player to your minidisc?
