Dear Jo,
Should I cash in my retirement fund, and then have absolutely nothing set aside for when I get older?
The problem is, my current car will be paid off in March, and I'd love to get a new car.
Well, to be more exact, there's one particular car, which will be launched in the summer.
If I sell my property in Belfast (the retirement fund), and sell my current car, then I only need to find another £10,000. Which I might get for one of my kidneys...

Should I or shouldn't I?

Yours confusedly,

David Brown's brother

Near Aston Clinton,
England.

Live for the moment!

You might get knocked over by a bus tomorrow.

And when you're old and have nothing the state will look after you.

WTFH...

An absolutley beautiful car... but only a car!

People will possibly disagree i know, but there are better cars around if you are looking for the thrill of it (not as good looking admitedly)!

I would spend half the amount and the rest on something more frivallous.. more skiing etc etc!

You'd regret it. Maybe not today and maybe not tomorrow. But soon, and for the rest of your life.

yours,

Humphrey.

And yet, getting on the plane is the hardest thing to do. It may be the RIGHT thing to do, it may be the SAFE thing to do, but it's not the FUN thing to do.

PFBC, I was almost going to get a bike last year, and if I'd stuck to my old job, I probably would have for the daily M25 commute.
That Triumph is a thing of great beauty. There's a Triumph dealer near where I live, and I drive by it a lot with lust in my eyes...

I am currently saving with the idea that next summer I will upgrade from my then 11 year old peugeot 306. However, after initially having fun back in Edinburgh I am now considering nicking off somewhere for a months holiday with the money I have saved (Barcelona is one option along with Asia or a snippet of Queenstown). I feel obliged to stick out this job for another month or so and then have no ties.

What do you all reckon?

It's getting more and more tempting. If I do that for July then I can come back to Edinburgh and work in the festival. Looking for jobs tomorrow! Then have a couple of months to kill before starting the season Sure I'll find some way to make it fun ,or might do an advanced cookery course

Anyway, next season I should be able to save a sh*t load of money and upgrade the car a bit but not too drastically!
