Hey all, my name's Steve and i'm heading off to Montchavin in La Plagne to work my first season with Esprit as a chalet assistant. Just wondering if there's anyone else heading out there on the 30th Nov by coach or has been there before and wanted to say anythin about the place. Cheers

Like a ski resort?

Don't go to PlanJA bar, its shite and the manager is more than likely to chuck you down the stairs.

Its a big area, although not particually advanced. Its linked with Les Arc, although I decided for the amount of time it took to get back that it was not worth going, hence I only went 3 times.

How long are you looking at for the transfer between les arcs and la plagne then? and surely it must be worth it if theres a whole new range of slopes to try

I can board fairly rapid, and took about half hour to get there, but its the comming back thats the problem, it was taking me between an hour and a half to two hours. It depends on traffic.

isnt there just a lift that links the 2 resorts together?

yep but the lift is at the furthest point , and some of the runs there or back are narrow, on many occasions I got boarder rage cos someone was hogging the path/slope!

There is, its very impressive. I have just re-read your first post. Your going to be based fairly close to it, so scrub what I just said. I was taking about going back to the main area of La Plagne.

the journey back from Les Arc's to La Plagne is the killer but if you leave at the right time before everyone else then its not so bad

sucks, but everyones in the same situ.

We had to work all the xmas days, no rest for the wicked...or downright evel!.............got together lunchtime at the top of the mountain above centre for a drink and secret santa which was amusing, then think some of us had a meal together later on, but not much really.

I worked with 3 other guys on maintenance, the best thing over xmas wa s emptying the chalets after the week, and loading up our apartments with all the food left behind, puddings, wine, cheese, loads!

To be honest (imho) its just like another day (if you can get over the home sickness thing)

You just have to think to yourself, my friends are at home and it prob raining and I'm snowboarding!!

whats the whole xmas thing anyway...open ya presents, stuff ya face, get pissed, annoy the family & fall out, then sleep.

Getting all ya ski gear is the same as getting what you want for xmas, and apart from falling out with the family then all the bases are covered!...that and all the repeats u get on TV, so to sum it up, what ya missing?
