Hey,

Was just wondering if anyone had been/ was heading out to Bannf this season? I've done a season in France and have skied in Europe loads but have never been to Canada. I'm heading out on my own mid December for 2 weeks (this job thing really sucks) so just thought I'd see if anybody would be around - would be good to actually know people for when i get there.

Also wondered what the night life was like?

Are you BanffBoarder in disguise??????????!!

You're probably not and have no idea what I'm on about.

I'm not going to be in Banff though.

Welcome to Natives!

I'm sure you'll get loads of helpful info on here as everyones really nice, but unfortunately I dont have anything helpful to say about Banff

hi laura

I did a year in banff a while back. Its a wicked place, very friendly with lots of canadians, more aussies and english in the winter, the international youth hostel up tunnel mountain is a great place to stay and meet people to drink with - book ahead first though, or the YMCA downtown, its a tiny place but has some nice (if touristy bars), wild bills saloon is a laugh, proper line dancing and cowboys some nights - and they mean it!! you can drink up till 2am in quite a few of the bars no problems, if you want to meet people I would deffo try and stay in the hostel or YMCA (The YM has private rooms to hire). There are a couple of late night/club (more like bars with dancefloors) places too, there is a good one at the banff springs hotel site, and a couple downtown where you will meet all the ski bums with not much to do but drink, its a very friendly place, you'll have a blast!!

thanks for that mike.

only trouble is, i just booked into the banff international hotel so the youth hostel option is out! (is the hotel in a good location?) should probably have come on this site before booking my holiday.

hoping there are lots of seasonaires out there who i can hang out with. what do you reckon about the skiing. not doing ski school so would you recommend getting a guide or just getting out there and hoping i'll find people to ski with!?

at least there's late night/early morning drinking!!
