the rip curl boardmasters
The Rip Curl Boardmasters, the UK’s premier lifestyle festival returns to the Newquay’s world famous Fistral Beach for it’s 25th Anniversary this summer.
The Rip Curl Boardmasters is the highlight of the UK surfing calendar and with all the attractions is not to be missed by anyone with a heartbeat!
The Rip Curl Boardmasters will take place from 31 Jul – 06 August consisting of an entire week of surfing, skating, BMX, Freestyle motocross, bikini comps, beach bar, barbies, trade village and DJ’s. Last year saw over 140,000 people check out the action and this year that figure is set to soar.

The main focus of the Rip Curl Boardmasters is the Men’s and Women’s 3 star World Qualifying series (WQS) surfing championships. Expect to see some of the most promising up and coming riders like current ASP world junior champion Kekoa Bacalso from Hawaii as well as last year’s winner, Antonio Bortoletto from South Africa returning to defend his title and runner up and WCT rookie David Weare aiming to go one better.
Turning focus back to land and it’s getting really exciting. The Vans Summer Session Vert Comp will attract the best vert skaters. Skaters like Renton Millar and Trevor Ward from Australia and Christiano Matteus from Brazil will go head to head with Euros such as Juergen Horrwarth from Germany, last year’s winner Terence Bougdour from France and the UK crew including Pete King, Andy Scott and, of course, Dangerous Dave Allen, for the increased prize purse of $20,000!!!
This year also sees the return of the Freerange Sports Optics (FSO) Newquay Street Pro. Last year Ross McGouran, closely followed by Flynn Trottman and Danny Wainwright, took home the title as well as £2000 and a holiday for two to Sri Lanka! Add this to BMX demos and the Eastpak mini ramp and action sports are pretty much covered.
If the action sports aren’t your thing then you can go and relax at the Foster’s Beach Bar and Barbie, grab a couple of pints and a burger and check out the action on the Big Screens whilst listening to resident DJ’s playing tunes to suit the mood, before the legendary Rip Curl Boardmasters club nights taking place all week.
