OZ UPDATE: FROM GRAEME MARSH |
22 July 2001 |
|
At last after a week of, let's say changeable weather, we saw the sun here in Perisher, armed with my Brikos and SPF 30 I strode out to work (nursing a nasty cold like many of us) with a renewed enthusiasm!! Today was my first day off since starting 3 weeks ago and as tempted as I was to free ski I decided a lay in and Sunday Roast was the only option !!! Anyway, Friday was a lively night in Jindy and success at the local meat raffle (that's raffle not market!) meant I went home with a huge joint of lamb perfect for lunch!!! News on the mountain is that 42 lifts are turning today and we've had a couple of fine days to take us up to the end of a busy 2 weeks as school holidays come to a close. Snow conditions have been pretty good although cover is thin and bare in the high traffic areas there has been good skiing to be had, snow has been hard in the morning softening up through mid morning and being very spring like with it firming back up as the sun goes down and the flat light sets in.... As ever this week the town has been lively on Wednesday and Friday, pay day sending the workers out on the town and weekend trade adding to the crowds on Friday night, as usual banjo's and LJ's proving to be the most popular venues (must be LJ's sticky carpet, plastic glasses and obsession with checking my ID that leads me to prefer Banjo's ??) Take care all |
