OZ UPDATE: FROM GRAEME MARSH |

This week has seen the arrival of the Planet X Winter games, loads of events throughout this week at the resort, halfpipe, ski and board cross, slopestyle etc. The only disapointment for me has been the absence of most the big names in Freestyle skiing (apparently due to a pay dispute in last year's events). This has meant no Johnny Moseley, JP Auclair et al. On a good note the awesome Candide Thovex is here and he took the big air comp earlier this week, I'm looking forward to catching him in the slopestyle and pipe later this week. OK....snowise things are holding up pretty good although we are really into Spring conditions with a heavy and wet cover throughout the resort. Good snow over the past couple of weeks has helped maintain this cover and many people are confident there's more to come, the snow that was predicted this week hasn't really come to anything just sleet, rain, snow, ice but nothing of substance !!!! Out on the town this week sees the return of Blizzard dance party at the Station Resort (host to some awesome freestyle motorcycling last night). The usual spots will be hotting up for the weekend with Banjos and LJ's the usual destinations. Oh, I have to thank the England football team for giving us something to shout about down here, the Aussies are happy with Bledisloe cup victories and their swimming and surf lifesaving (???) teams all making the opposition look decidedly brick like in their performance. Anyway I have to be off to get my new skis, luckily the currency here is a lot weaker than their cricket team !!!!! Bye for now |
