So far we have Coronet and the Remarks reporting up to 80cm of snow with big accumulations (2m+) elsewhere, once it's packed down into a base this will give the guns something to work on. Coronet Peak is anticipating opening at Queen's Birthday weekend as is Hutt which is 1st June so that is awesome. Cardrona and TC are in the same sort of shape. Hutt missed some of this although last night I heard it snowed pretty heavily on the mountain but was pretty wild so I guess it will be getting up to 50cm accumulated this week. The guns are also running today as you can see in the pic below. The new half pipe off the Quad looks pretty hot as well.
Most of the club fields are reporting decent snow falls and will probably open mid-late June. Up north here in Wellington we managed to hit the magic 130kmh winds on Thurs night with snow/hail/rain and then a corking great earthquake at 6am just to round a rather restless night off! The storm is sitting up over the NI skifields just now and Rhuapehu is reporting up to 50cm at the top and 30ish at the car park which sounds promising. One of the Taranaki ski clubs on Mt Egmont/Taranaki actually ran its lifts on Thursday to be the first in the Southern Hemisphere to start skiing, they are pretty hardcore up there! So all in all fingers crossed its looking good for an early start :-)
