NZ UPDATE - JAMES DAFFURN

16 July 2001

Treble Cone has seen a busy week with the school holidays, but it's now Monday and all is good again. The resort is in need of a heavy dump though and although it is reported for tonight I'm not so convinced!

I only arrived here last week, and all I can say is this place is like no other, Lake Wanaka although small is an adrenaline packed town, with great nightlife.

I'm on an instructor's course called the Rookie Academy, a great course leading to my NZSIA Level 1, so if anyone is wanting to become an instructor and still take advantage of two seasons then check the Rookie Academy out.

If anyone's coming to NZ you should check Treble Cone out. It's got some serious gullys and a great back bowl, suiting all abilities from advanced through to beginners. And believe me - the off- piste is unlimited, plus there's heli skiing on offer!

Night life is good and newly opened 'Shooters' is great and populated by the many 'rookies' (Americans, Brits, Swiss, Koreans, Australians - you name it. they're here). Have already made ourselves known especially us Brits! Everyone is really friendly, so if your heading over check us out, you'll love it here!

I'll keep you all posted on what's going on in Wanaka, with special coverage of the Rip Curl World Heli Challenge which will soon be here in Wanaka and on Sky!

See you soon!

James Dafurn
