NZ UPDATE - CHRIS LOFTUS |
12 September 2001 |

The mountains are very quiet though you don't have to search too far to find an eternally optimistic local who will gladly tell you that it's quite normal to have a decent fall anytime in September. The first of the end of season
special offers has just appeared - take a Moro bar wrapper
up to Treble Cone on Friday and ski for $10 rather than
$64. Apparently last year this offer quickly became
"just bring the wrapper"!

Well
there's now a definite feel of spring in the air, cloudless
blue skies and temperatures regularly in the mid teens.
There hasn't been any new snow for well over two weeks
but the near zero nightime temps are managing to keep
the existing cover from disappearing too quickly.
