Natives joins the Snow Camp graduate programme

24 February 2010 11:25

Back in January Jim Duncombe, our recruitment manager hit the slopes at the Milton Keynes SNO!zone with the Snow Camp crew to let the youngsters involved with the charity know more about Natives and working in the mountains.

Snowboarding at the SNOzoneSnow-Camp is a youth charity that provides disadvantaged young people from London’s inner city areas with the chance to experience mountain sports.

Snow camp offers the opportunity to learn to ski or snowboard, during a week’s stay in the French Alps, or through the 10-week graduate programme based at the Milton Keynes SNO!zone. Snow Camp also includes a Life-Skills course designed to enable young people to reflect on the key issues that impact their lives.

Lift at SNOzoneIt was clear that the youngsters taking part with Snow Camp got a great deal out of the programme and were having fun on the snow, learning some new skills. Natives was on hand to help them find out more about how they could turn what is initially a once in a lifetime opportunity into a work experience of a lifetime by gaining skills and finding work in the Alps through Natives.

Skiing at SNOzoneSnowsports are unfortunately expensive pastimes and can seem to be for the rich and famous or the very dedicated, so it was great to see youngsters from all backgrounds and walks of life on the slopes being able to get a feel for a sport which isn’t easily accessible by everyone.
