Europe’s largest Snowsports show kick starts the 2008/09 winter season with a five-day snow spectacular taking over Kensington Olympia.

From 22 to 26 October, the Grand Hall Olympia will be transformed into the perfect mountain landscape hosting international pro competitions, live music, art, fashion shows, interactive workshops, ice skating; it's the perfect place to get inspired to hit the slopes this season.

Spine Jump

The centrepiece of the 2008 show will be the 40ft spine jump allowing some of the UK’s and Europe’s top riders the opportunity to go higher than they have ever been able to at the show before. The jump will be hosting the British Snow Tour Invitational Championship and the London Ride as well as 5 demos per day with riders trying to go bigger and better.

Ice Kingdom

One for the kids and all others as a full ice experience comes to the show. Kick back in a sub-zero environment and listen to DJ’s in our real ice bar or get a little bit more active on the 150m2 ice rink. If you’ve always fancied a go at curling (and who hasn’t?) then you can have a go at the show this year, with a little help from our experts to show you the way, before that all important battle against your friends. The rink will also be hosting broom hockey as well as a beat the keeper competition. As always at the show skating and curling are free upon entry.

Land Rover Fashion Show and Brand Arena

Cutting edge winter sportswear from brands such as Salomon, Westbeach, Columbia, Bonfire and Schoeffel will be modelled on the specially designed catwalk, to give you the heads up on the freshest looks for the slopes on all budgets. Each brand will also have an area within the brand arena to display their latest gear and talk you through the technical aspects of their ranges. Last show Forum was even seen to give out free haircuts whilst you chatted.

The Gigloo

Live bands & DJ’s… the Gigloo, “a gig in an igloo!” Not much more to say, really. Coming back again in 2008 with a bigger stage and bigger acts in conjunction with XFM, the new music station, the Gigloo will be hosting an awesome line up of live acts and DJ talent every evening at the show. During the day check out the DJ and Bboy workshops and in the evening experience some of the best up and coming acts on the scene.

Ice Sculpting

The show is growing this year to take up every bit of space on the gallery and one of the upper floor highlights will definitely be the ice sculpting. We’ll be giving the guys a chainsaw and an axe and setting them head to head to try and sculpt whatever the crowd wants so get along with your request.

Snoconut Shy

In a nostalgia filled return, the show will be bringing a coconut shy to the gallery level, but with a winter difference. Feel the snow in your hands and take aim at a Snoconut; if your aim is true, pick up a free Metro Snow beanie.

Husky Dogs

Destination Quebec will be bringing Canada’s favourite animal back to the show this year with husky dogs making an appearance on 3 days (Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday). Get your photo taken for a free souvenir and treat yourself to some traditional Quebecois maple taffy whilst you’re at it.

If that’s not enough, the show will also be playing host to much more….

Roof Terrace Bar: relax with a drink whilst overlooking the action on the slope below.

World Food: Stock up on your mountain favourites, such as Tiroler Grostl and Tartiflette.

World Resorts Village: Hosting live music and talks from resorts around the world, learn what is like to be on the pro tour and check out the Après action for which a resort like Whistler is justifiably famous.

If you are bringing the kids along during half term then take advantage of free entry for ten and unders plus a free crèche next to those child friendly husky dogs. Even if the children are over ten you can still take advantage of discounted advanced entry from as little as £4 for 11-16 year olds.
