| The Avenue Cookery School | |
|
The Avenue Cookery School in south west London offers exceptional teaching in a professional but relaxed environment. Intensive one and two week courses are specifically tailored towards chalet work and provide students of a wide range of ability with all the necessary tips and techniques to enable them to have a successful and, most importantly, enjoyable season in the mountains. The school's unique attitude towards flexibility in teaching to a student’s preference and ability is well known and highly prized: nothing is set in stone and everything is 'do-able'. Students are patiently guided through the one and two week menu plans, allowing plenty of time for individual tuition and opportunity to go over any problem areas. Menu planning, chalet hosting, dietary needs, food hygiene and well informed advice from the experienced staff go towards giving every student the chance to develop confidence, flare and efficiency. Good links with and regular visits from ski companies provide a valuable opportunity for recruitment for those students looking for placements. An Avenue Cook is a well trained cook and this is recognised within the industry. Diana Horsford leads the teaching and draws on her many years of experience of, not only chalet hosting herself, but also teaching and structuring chalet courses. Feed back from previous years and communication with the ski companies play an important part in knowing what the clients are looking for and this aspect is never over looked. The Avenue Cookery School offers many alternative courses. One and two week and one month courses can be adapted for any prospective chalet cook. It is highly recommended that students let the school know of their possible intention to work the winter season when first applying for a regular cooking course. In this way job applications will run smoothly in advance of the student attending the school. |
